On the Loose

Yikes there was a surfer way out and he looks so tiny by the big wave. The wave size yesterday was about 8-10 feet and it was so awesome to watch those daredevil way out there waiting for the right wave to ride. Yes, I do envy these guys, I will just dream that I am way out there surfing with them. What a nice sunny day to be at the beach.

Stand up Paddle surf

Stand up paddling is the new craze now. They said that it's a good way to loose weight and to keep fit. The sport is an ancient form of surfing, and began as a way for surfing instructors to manage their large groups of learner surfers, as standing on the board gave them a higher viewpoint, increasing visibility of what was going on around them - such as incoming swell. To begin with, this started with using a one-bladed paddle, whilst standing on a normal length surfboard. The popularity of the modern sport of SUP has its origination in the Hawaiian Islands. In the early 1960s, the Beach Boys of Waikiki would stand on their long boards, and paddle out with outrigger paddles to take pictures of the tourists learning to surf. This is where the term "Beach Boy Surfing", another name for Stand Up Paddle Surfing, originates.

Going Japanese

Shabu-shabu ........................................................ Sukiyaki

We love Japanese food. Some our our favorite is shabu-shabu, sukiyaki and yakiniku. Sukiyaki is a one pot dish same as shubu-shabu, the difference is sukiyaki is a litle sweeter than shabu-shabu and shabu-shabu is much savory. If we have either shabu-shabu or sukiyaki, I always fair it with yakiniku which is grilled meat. The fun part of it is you have to cook it on the dinning table.

I really love TIKI's. There are different types of tikis, but the one I like most is the "Kucky Tiki." I told my husband that if we will have a new home back home where we plan to retire, I want to have the house decorated in Hawaiian theme with tikis in it. I am also collecting some, Hawaiian fish hooks, swords and all decorative Hawaiian stuff.
