"Black Pearl" in HAWAII

Finally I got a shot of her while they are shooting. They always shoot during weekdays and work hours. It's my off today and when I'm on my way to do some errands I spotted her out the ocean, I change route right away and head to the nearest location. These is the closest I can get but I'm happy for now looking at the "Black Pearl."

Past out BABY!

Poor baby! It's our little munchkins sleeping on his stomach. A classic move to put a bottle of beer beside him and make him look like he passed out. He was still so little on this photo, he was always sleeping. Unlike now that he is growing and thinks he's a big boy, he does not want to take a nap anymore. He always wanted our attention and talk to him or he will get bored.

Blue Hawaii

Hawaii is one of the expensive state to live and if you complain people will tell you "Paradise comes with a price tag." The cost of living is high, food and housing is expensive. But if the price tag comes with sun, sand, surf, green mountains and much more, well that's worth the price we pay for living here.
Those people who have not been here before might say, even how beautiful Hawaii is it's not enough to convince them to live here. But then, we seen so many mainland people settling here because when you come once you never wanted to leave.

What on Earth! yeah looks like I have nothing to in town and just capturing images here and there of buildings. This twin tower is one of the famous landmark in town and if your from this island you will surely identify and know which side and which street I am located while taking this one.

Chocolate chip cookies

Blondie's? Yikes what happen to my chocolate chip cookies looks like Blondie's. I was scared to burnt it a little more but this is so so good ones. But it's really good if you burnt it a little more that will make it crunchy goodness. I might post the recipe next time but this one is really simple and egg less.

Portuguese Tart

My twin shared her recipe of Portuguese Tart to me. It's so easy to make and so good. We like it this way, a little burnt on the sides. The condensed milk give it the yummy flavor.

1 cup sugar
3 1/2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 eggs
1 cup flour
1 can 14oz condensed milk
2 cups milk

Beat the eggs in a large bowl.
Basically, you just mix all the ingredients together. This is such a simple recipe. If the mixture is lumpy, strain it to get a smooth batter. ( i strained mine )
Ladle the mixture into greased muffin tins. This recipe yields 18 tarts.
Bake in a 400F preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 325F and bake for another 20 minutes.

Getting There

Influence by "Elgin Park". So here is my old beetle stuck in the wilderness in the middle of nowhere. Now I'm digging for cars and stuff to make my own little town. Yes, I don't have much time but I will make one little town and I will name it... Yeah I can't think of a name yet.

Nice Day

One of my boredom moments while waiting for the husband. It was a windy but sunny morning, the weather is perfect for a walk but the wind is gusting once in a while. I was waiting for the wind to die down so I can take a nice picture of the palm tree but every time I tried the wind blow my subject.

FB Games

I am playing FB games as my pass time. I have a few favorite and hates most of it because it doesn't make sense to me.Few of my favorites are from ZYNGA games, they are pretty awesome and know what the players wants, though most of the time they don't listen about the feedback. Some copycat are so lame because they tried to copy games but they are not successful.

Need Rest!

I've been working for 5 to 6 days a week and I'm missing most of my favorite show and movie time. I love working as well as day-off, but day-off is not really a day-off because it's the time where I catch up on my household chores and errands. I am not complaining of my set up this, I am enjoying it, I'm just missing my days at home enjoying my real rest day pampered. *sigh

Snap snap

What to do when you're bored? Snap, snap, snap.
When I'm killing my time or waiting for the husband or something, I always grab my phone camera and snap anything that capture my eyes. I admit that I am a prostrated photographer, I love photography so much. I am happy that the pictures I taking these days are getting better and better. Maybe I know how to get the best angle now lols.

Training Program Scam

In this tough economy, many of us thinks that going back to school is the best thing to do to get a higher pay and job security. I have thought of the same thing until I read one article recently about the high interest rate that most of the school or training centers put on you. Instead of having a better job with higher pay, you might end up on minimum pay with no security and on a big loan with high interest.
It's still good to have a degree or training but make sure that it's worth it. Check out the loan plan they offer you and make sure everything is fair and square.

Taxes Due Date

Just a reminder to all that TAX due date is on the 15th. Well I guess I have to remind myself too since we're not done with our tax yet and I hate it. Hopefully we can send it out early tomorrow morning.
I hate it a lot when you pay people to do it for you that you lay everything for them and still they don't do it on, where the only thing they have to do is to sign the paper. I wish we could get a better people to do our taxes.

Frugal Coffee Shop

Coffee shop is so in the trend these days, but then their coffee's is a little pricey for a frugal lady like me. Solution, is to get a brewing machine that will allow you to choose from 200 flavors of gourmet coffee defending on your mood. I get one mini machine that will allow me to brew a cup of coffee each time, it's perfect for me and my husband. It also keep us away from rip-off coffee shops.
You can choose from fancy to just right coffee brewing machines and there are inexpensive ones. You have over 200 coffee choices, a pack of 18 cups worth for only 10 bucks compared to the price of 1 tall coffee in a coffee shop.

On the Loose

Yikes there was a surfer way out and he looks so tiny by the big wave. The wave size yesterday was about 8-10 feet and it was so awesome to watch those daredevil way out there waiting for the right wave to ride. Yes, I do envy these guys, I will just dream that I am way out there surfing with them. What a nice sunny day to be at the beach.

Stand up Paddle surf

Stand up paddling is the new craze now. They said that it's a good way to loose weight and to keep fit. The sport is an ancient form of surfing, and began as a way for surfing instructors to manage their large groups of learner surfers, as standing on the board gave them a higher viewpoint, increasing visibility of what was going on around them - such as incoming swell. To begin with, this started with using a one-bladed paddle, whilst standing on a normal length surfboard. The popularity of the modern sport of SUP has its origination in the Hawaiian Islands. In the early 1960s, the Beach Boys of Waikiki would stand on their long boards, and paddle out with outrigger paddles to take pictures of the tourists learning to surf. This is where the term "Beach Boy Surfing", another name for Stand Up Paddle Surfing, originates.

Going Japanese

Shabu-shabu ........................................................ Sukiyaki

We love Japanese food. Some our our favorite is shabu-shabu, sukiyaki and yakiniku. Sukiyaki is a one pot dish same as shubu-shabu, the difference is sukiyaki is a litle sweeter than shabu-shabu and shabu-shabu is much savory. If we have either shabu-shabu or sukiyaki, I always fair it with yakiniku which is grilled meat. The fun part of it is you have to cook it on the dinning table.

I really love TIKI's. There are different types of tikis, but the one I like most is the "Kucky Tiki." I told my husband that if we will have a new home back home where we plan to retire, I want to have the house decorated in Hawaiian theme with tikis in it. I am also collecting some, Hawaiian fish hooks, swords and all decorative Hawaiian stuff.

Social Network Troubles

It's fun to be in a social network where you can meet your long lost friends, distance relatives and make new friends. This is making our life easy to catch up with siblings and close friends. But there's things that I hate most o social network where your buddies or "cyber friends" make it like their journal and updating "nonsense" things that they are doing every second of their life! Hey who would like to know your minute by minute update anyway?
My own opinion is, I never or refrain from using my real name online for so many reasons and my husband agrees with me. Another thing is, who do you THINK wants to know your life UPDATES and BRAGS? Definitely, not me! Some people open their book too much on social network and if someone else commented that make them feel offended then it lead out to "world war." That's why I refrain from commenting to somebody else post, based on my observation people misinterpret your comment and it makes them feels bad which lead your relationship to sour.
Just a reminder to those on "Social Network, just be mindful of what you are doing and don't get carried away because people will interpret things differently. Be responsible and POST at your own risk! Honestly I'm just hook on it BECAUSE of the GAMES.

We experience a switch in weather after the Tsunami scares last Saturday. Since Sunday the trade wind came back gusting on 15-25, it's been raining too. I saw some tourist on TV, they were from the mainland and was about the windy condition here in Hawaii and the simply said "We love it, the wind is Velvety."
Well, we honestly need the rain and the wind to blow those VOGS away. It's so cold outside though. Yesterday I felt so cold at mid morning and I need to warm up myself because I have to do some baking and cleaning. It was so cold inside the house and bright and shinny outside. I went for a quick walk, sunny yet drizzling but when the clouds cleared a bit, the sun felt so good on my skin.

CellPhones is BANNED!

The county of Oahu officially passed the law to BAN Cell phone and other electronic devices while driving since mid last year. This means you cannot use phone for calling or texting while driving, no cameras, and gaming system, the only thing allowed is hands free calling device or blue tooth.
But I always saw people still doing these stupid things and risk other people's lives. Law is a law that you have to obey it. The other day my husband told me that when he is driving down the freeway a lady almost hit him and that lady was texting. He honk on her and she only say sorry and continue on her "STUPID BUSINESS." Don't they realized what they are doing is risking other peoples life? Is a single text so important than your own life or safety? I always, always saw people on the phone and on the freeway, always, mean every day. Now I wonder if how does police department caught these people who don't follow simple law.

Ellen Rocks

I am not really an avid fan of Ellen Degeneres show until I saw her do the goofy dance. She is fun to watch and looks so cute on her dancing move. Since then I keep watching her at American Idol and she doing great job. In my own opinion American Idol will still sore high even if Simon Cowel quits. Ellen rocks and I believe on her that she can full it out and contribute to the success of American Idol. I really find her so cute, ah oh, I'm not gay, lol.

Screaming SPRING

I have noticed that most of the fashion colors now is already screaming for SPRING It's quit shocking that we had just celebrated New Years and now Spring is around the corner. Time really flew by so fast!
Well, last month I bough a bed sheets that has the shade of white and yellow and I pair it with pillow cases in green and yellow. During that time spring was totally not in my mind, i just realized it earlier when I am changing our bed sheets and realized that our room is screaming spring. LOL what a coincidence, Spring will come early this year, I think it would be early March.

On 60s

We have a pretty cold week. Right now we are on mid 60's and dropping and the forecast is it will last until early next week. What I have observe this year is the weather is a little weird, maybe due to the "El Nino" phenomena where the Pacific Ocean is warming. But this brings a weird weather here in our island because when I'm about to toss out out thick comforter then suddenly the temperature went back down.
Well there are many good things this El Nino brings to our island though because this is the perfect time for most of the huge "Surfing competition" that needs huge waves.

Productive Day

It's a productive day for me since I did pretty much the things on my list for today. I finish doing the laundry and folding it. I also done cleaning all the rooms and vacuuming the floor and I am currently doing my online task. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish my other task that my other Boss (husband) is asking me to do. I am planning to wander at the mall tomorrow but maybe after I finish what he asking me to do before I get caught back to work.

His is such a CRITIC! weal my wardrobe has mostly black and white on it. I'm more on a solid color black or white or if ever I have printed it's mostly in black and white print. We knew that most of the "hair dressers" or people working in a salon wears black.
In our work place we don't wear uniform, as long as we are wearing decent casual attire then it's good. So most of my coworker are wearing black and I catch the fever right away since I have more black attires. One day my husband tease me and said "Who's hair you're gonna do today?" My husband is such a mento trip guys lol. I cant do anything but laugh.

Tiger Woods Case

Many people have judge Tiger Woods disturbing behavior. Many people and media people condemn him for his wrong behavior or addictions. But here is my point of view on this situation. Like us he is just a human being capable of doing things that are inappropriate for most of us.
But think about it that like most of us who has past and hiding skeleton in our closets. The only thing is, he is a celebrity, he has a name and he need to be what most people painted who he is. A man so clean and elegant and don't have any right to be what a normal people is.
Well, I am sure that this who condemn him are mush by far worst that Tiger Woods. I still like Tiger because he pnly prove that he is a human being and not the icon that people thinks. More power to him and his family and hope they will see the bright side of this situation and become stronger person.

Brownies Day

I am craving for chocolate today. Since I'm off from work I'm doing the household chores and also baking some brownies. I will treat myself today with a brownie because I did a good job in loosing weight. It feels so good that I fit again on my old cloths, I am so determined to continue on loosing more weight and maintain about 125-130 lbs which is the balance weight for my height. I have a double chocolate brownies cooking, I'm so excited sinking my teeth on it.

Tiki Bar

I love Tiki bar, it really perfect for our home here in the islands of Hawaii. I was dreaming to have one for awhile now since we love to entertain our friends and family during the weekend. I saw this one at outdoor furniture online.
We will be having our friends this week end; we are so excited to have party Hawaiian style. We might be heading to the beach for overnight camping. This will be a fun weekend, Have a wonderful week end to all.

It's spring time soon! I have a backyard garden but I might not plant veggies anymore since I can get it cheaper at the farmers market every weekend. I will still have my herbs, I need fresh herbs every time I cook. I freeze most of the veggies I get from farmers market aside from the greens that need to be prepared within two days from buying since it has a shorter shelf life. So to make my veggies or dishes taste fresh I add fresh herbs on it.

Ultimate Dreams -1

One of my ultimate dream is to conquer my fear of swimming on the deep blue and swim with the gentle giant Whale sharks. I also wanted to swim with the humpback whales they are so awesome creatures. I just realized that I love humble huge water creatures but still I'm scared exploring their world.
I still remember when my husband and I went to our first snorkeling back home. He laugh at me cause I'm like fighting with the waves and its getting into my nose. I also panic when I swim and find myself at the deep part. I wish I could conquer my fear before I get so old to do outdoors stuff lol.

Every time we pass by Kahe point I always look by the ocean side and try to spot spinner dolphins or breaching whales. From month of November to April is humpback whale season, you can spot whales at some parts of Oahu and Maui. Kahe point is one of the favorite spot of humpbacks and spinner dolphins.
For consecutive two days I spotted spinner dolphins and breaching whale. It feels so awesome watching this creatures, they are just so amazing. Hopefully I have my camera with me next time.

As the saying goes that "Charity start in a HOME." Haiti needs our help in what ever amount we can. There are so many ways to donate to Haiti, one way is donate to RED CROSS by texting "HAITI" to 90999, you verify it's legitimate when you saw the first lady Michelle Obama on TV. You can also check out the site , UNICEF make your pledge.
I believe that it's better to donate money to them through this organization.

Helping Hand

When I watch the poor people of Haiti suffering from the earthquake devastation my heart was with them. If ever I am still free of obligation and if given a chance, I am so sure that I will volunteer at Haiti.
The Haiti incident reminds me of my First love and supposed first career of choice which is being a "Social Worker" because I want to help to people in need. But then maybe I was not inline to that job. But in my heart I am still willing to give my kind help to any people that need it.
I am watching the "Hope for Haiti now show" and was so touch by the people in Haiti that they are trying to pick up the pieces to rebuild their lives. I was so touch by what George Clooney said that religion means we have to take good care of each other what ever religion we belong what ever the color of our skin.
