Eddie Did GO!

This was the 30 footer waves that was taken early this month at Pipeline North shore. They have the "Eddie would GO" competition which requires a good 30 footer wave. The last time they have this competition was 4 years ago, after that they keep canceling it because they didn't find the rigt waves for it.
Finally last week they have it and it's a blast. I can't even believe how it cause traffic to North shore and there's so many people watching the competition.

Winter Cold

Last night I was complaining that it's not cold as last week and now my feet is freezing cold. I really feel the Holiday season when the weather is so cold and freezing. The weather forecast for this week said to be dropping in temperature for the rest of the month.
During winter season we have the biggest surf swell in the island and surfers are plucking on North Shore. In fact last week the started most of their major competitions.

Whom you gonna asked? Well, when it comes to recipes and suggestion my dear cousin always comes to me for advice. I am so happy to share my tips and cooking secret to her as long as she seals her mouth tight, lol. I gave her one of my secret recipe and for sure she will love it, she said she tried it with other recipe but didn't work out right. Poor thing, I wish she will have oven so I can gave her a tons of in-expensive dessert ideas. Well having an oven in Ph is a luxury and not all home makers are baking due to the coast, it's practical to buy your desserts than make it. But for me home baking is still the best. Hope it will came out good and they will love the recipes I gave her. Now I am thinking of stuff for her when I came visit.

Merry Christmas!

Simple Center Piece

I have so many empty clear vases that I've keep aside. When I was decorating last week I came to an idea to utilized those clear vases. So here are the few easy ideas I made to make it a little festive. The easiest way is tie a festive bows on your flower vases or dump in colored string ornaments and tie a cute bow, then you have a festive center piece.

Best Thanksgiving Entry

Showing off my entry at Yo Ville for the "Thanksgivings Dinner" theme. It's counting down to the end and four hours remaining for the votes. I'm hoping to remain on 6th place but the 7th place has a technical issues. Her entry is double, one is in 7th place and the other one is somewhere at the buttom but with 200 plus votes. If they count and merge her votes this only means I'm technically on 7th place. Not bad in my part since I just recently join the contest and this one is my 4th entry, my 2nd entry landed in 8th place. I am so happy, and as long as my good entries will stay on top ten.
I strongly agree to one comment that said "it's mixed and match but it works", I'm so proud lol.

TOO Much TV!

It's a running joke here in our house or sometimes it's the phrase we use to make fun especially when someone is explaining too much. We watch a lot of info channels like NetGeo, Discovery and History channel so when we stumble on a topic that we have watch on TV we always say the word "Too Much TV." It's sound irritating to others who doesn't know that it's some sort of a joke. My husband and I are used to the joke but someone in the house is not, he get irritated and cry, now he is a cry baby, lol I'm bad.

Flu Prevention

As they say "Prevention is better than cure." We are all aware about N1H1 flu and other types of flu and we have read and hear about some preventions over and over again. But most of the time we forget to wash our hand as often as possible.
Here are the advises:

  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, or use hand sanitizer.
  • Cough or sneeze in the crock of your arm or sleeve.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Don't touch your face, eyes, mouth with your hands.
  • Check for more information.
  • Check for travel notices and advisories.
  • Talk to a health professional if you experience severe flu-like symptoms.

Be Positive

As I'm doing my routine on my porcelain throne, it's my ritual to grab a paper or magazine to read. I grab the costco connect magazine and scan some interesting articles until I stumble upon a "Fresh views" pages.
It was Wally Amos the father of famous Amos cookies on his article about "Be Positive, Regardless." I read his article and realize that he is right. he inserted a quote from 365 Tao "Without the difficulty of being hemmed in, the tree in the forest would not be forced to marshal its power to grow toward the light. It must truly bring forth all its inner strength to spread its branches. If it becomes grand, it is in part because of its suffering. Thus the time of adversity can be crucial to the development of one's inner personality."

I once taste this ox tail Pho at a Vietnamese restaurant. As always I can't wait to come home to try make it myself. I nail it the second time and my husband, my one and only critic loves it, he does love Pho and Oxtail so I make his two favorite in one bowl. Now it's part of my house menu, I cooked it twice a month at most. It's easy as long as you nail the Pho spices and Use Pho noodle to go with it.

My mom's sister was missing for more than 20 years now. We never heard a word from her or any news, we don't even know if she's still alive. My aunt left three kids which are my close cousins. I talk to my cousin everyday online cause we played the same game. Today we talk about her mom, she wants to know or see her mom but he middle sister don't want to look for their mom.
I encourage her to look for her mom, in fact I search for her online from time to time but I always hit the wall. I believe in my heart that she is still alive and possibly living in PH, I will keep searching online for her and hoping that my cousin can find her.

Burger Night

What's eating you? Well burgers I guess lol. I am so lazy one evening thinking of what's for dinner. I don't feel like cooking complicated meal so I ask the other half if he wants home made burger and fries, he said yes. No burger bun but I have french bread, so this is it. Burger with bacon, no cheese for him and fries. I have cheese on mine of course, I'd rather eat cheese burger with out the patties and he likes burger without the cheese, so on that situation me and my other half are opposite.

Chicken Sandwich

I didn't get a good picture because I was already devouring the other half of it. We have a left over beer can chicken breast from the other day and I worked yesterday. When I came home I don't have enough time for cooking, I get fresh bread at store. When we reach home I made us a yummy meal in no time. We had yummy Chicken sandwich and my husband ate it with saimin. It's so good, I drizzle a little sesame oil on the lettuce, salt and pepper and it's ready to go. I love sesame oil on salads and sandwich than olive oil. ;-)

Oh I really get Paranoid yesterday. I have worked yesterday and my boss was sneezing a lot, blowing his nose and coughing, it really freaks me out cause it's a tiny A/C office room. For some reason I don't wanna catch cold yet, so I told him I cannot work today.
He had the colds symptoms and we're at flu season, H1N1 and other types of flu so we better be responsible of our health and be very careful avoiding the spread. If ever you feel you have the symptoms of simple colds, please isolate yourself to people at least 2-3 days upon onset, this are the crucial days where it's highly contagious. Yes we can say it's just a simple cough and colds and nothing to worry but there are lots of different kinds of flu that we need to avoid spreading, signs and symptoms are almost the same as common colds. Better be safe than sorry and take your own responsibility.

Fish Tacos

Since I am the boss in our kitchen which I love ;), I am fully in charge of all our meal. So once in a while I switch gear and go for foods that we seldom eat for a change. Lately we dine on tacos and last weekend I make fish tacos. I don't have white flaky fish so I just use tuna for this one with coleslaw and cheese on top. They ate it all so I take it as a good fish tacos.

Early Trick or Treat

We went shopping for groceries at wholesale store last Wednesday and my husband get a huge bag of mixed candies for the Halloween. When we reach home I checked on it and found a chocolate covered coconut bar, I can't resist and taste it, pretty good. So I end up picking all the coconut chocolate bars and keep it for me and some kitkats, it's a big bag anyway. So I sneak on it without his knowing and threw the wrapper at the bathroom trash bin. But he caught me when he is about to take tout the rubbish and found out the candy wrappers =). I ate too much candy, when I woke up this morning I am not feeling well due to sore throat, hope that it won't turn into tonsillitis or I'll be so screwed.

I'm drooling when I saw biscuit, it's like calling my name to spread butter and honey on it and savor it's flakiness. I really have a taste for biscuit and I am the only one here in our house who love biscuit and also cheese. So if I bake biscuit that mean I am the only one who will attack it.
The other day husband called me to ask if what I want from a fast food resto and I said right away "BISCUIT." And I ate all the hot biscuit with butter and honey, so yummy. I better bake another batch!

Beach BUM

We love hanging out at the beach especially during summer season. On the photo is one of our favorite beach to go swimming, it's the surfing mecca of the west side of the island.
I'm not a good swimmer but we usually stay on the water the whole time we're at beach. The sun is bright and hot and the water is cooling and soothing. We saw turtle again and it's huge, he is swimming so near us but we don't touch it or swim with it unless you want to be the tiger shark's dinner.
Couple months ago there's one shark attack on this area, they saw 15 footer tiger patrolling the area. Well, there is a good size of sea turtle population here and sharks loves to feed on them, poor turtles.

We have history subject at school before and it is one of my favorite subject, though I find it 's complex. But it's nice to know our fast and other nation's culture. I'm wondering if ever I was exposed more to history before maybe I am a good historian this time or explorer? lol.

This is a simple Family style tamales the way my grandmama makes. She uses cellophane noodle, dried shrimp, pork or chicken, and some secret spices. Each bite of this makes me go back in time.
In this Tamales I used rice flour as my masa seasoned with salt and pepper. Then I cooked the filling. My husband loves it and she have to thanks my grandmama for it. I still so many food memories on my mind that I have to recreate.

Summer in Waikiki

A glimpse of Waikiki on Summer season. No wonder locals does not want to hang out at Waikiki that much because it's always jum packed with tourist and the scent of suntan lotion on the water. It's so hard to find a spot to lay your towel this time of the year, it's really packed with people.
But when you love music and crowd then this is the place to go. Head on by the Duke's and hang on till 4pm and you will enjoy live local entertainment.

Fruits and Nuts Bars

The inspiration of this bar is a store bought Fruit & Nuts bar that I have tasted last week. I like it so I came home and full a recipe online, but I do it my way as always, so from the online recipe i plus and minus some of the ingredients because I want the ingredients to balance.
Here it is;

2 cups all purpose Flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1-1/2 cup Brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2 cups Dried mix fruits (figs, apricots, pears, plums, cherries, peaches)
1/2 cup Raisin or craisins
2 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 small packet instant oats (cinnamon flavor or what you desired)
1/4 cup canola or vegetable oil

Heat oven on 350. Mix all dry ingredients till it's incorporated. Slightly beat egg, add vanilla and sugar then mix to the dry ingredients. Add dried fruits and nuts and mix using your hands until all is well blend. For a fancy look, pour them all in a round or square cake pan and packed, then flip it over on a cutting board and slice triangular depending on your desired size. Place it on a cookie sheet half inches apart and bake for 30 minutes on 350. Enjoy!

Beach House

So this is my YoVille 2nd House aside from the apartment. I have a Cape Cod that I named "Pink Ohana" and suppose I will get a Goth House but accidentally bought another cape cod. At first I was so disappointed and pissed but then, with the positive energy of my twin brat, I came out of this Idea. I name it "Rx - Ocean Rehab", I am satisfied of it and might not get a goth house.
I have started a new project transforming a trailer house into a Cabin in the Woods.

Farm Town - Farmers Tips

Tropical Theme Farm

Amazing Waterfall Design

The whole Farm Final Stage

If you are new to FT or "Farm Town" here is a little tip for you so you can level up fast. The only thing you need to do is Plow. We all wanted our farm to look good, but you can decorate your farm freely when you have plenty of coins to spend. It is much better to decorate your farm when you reach the levels of 20 and beyond.
It happened to me when I first played FT, but then I realized that it is better to level up first before anything else, this way you can expand your farm and accumulate coins. Go to the market and help somebody by plowing or harvesting.
Plowing will pay you less but it will give you points to level up faster. On the other hand if you need more coins, you can ask other people to hire you for harvesting. Harvesting will give you 50% of the crops value but it won't give you points.
So these are the tips on playing FT, hope I did help you reach your goal.
Remember, it's so easy to decorate your farm when you have opened all the decoration materials and you have enough coins to splurge.

Happy Farming.
