A short .8mile hike but you can make it longer by traversing to another trail before you get to the waterfall. This is another crowded trail flocked by tourist. It's a popular tourist destination because it's a short hike and a really beautiful scenery in the heart of Manoa. I will hike this trail again and traverse to another trail.

Distance: 3 miles round trip
This hike should be done early in the morning before the sunrise. It will cooler but if you are trying to do it pass 9am make sure to apply sunscreen and also bring water with you. Prepare for the heat of the sun suck your energy and the killer stairs wobble your knees. It's a good and difficult hike since you will use your knees and thigh the entire hike. It is a rewarding hike. I want to do it again and I'll make sure I do it first thing in the morning and if I could avoid doing this on summer time.
Diamond Head State monument is a short .8mile hike to the top of Diamond head crater. The top lookout offers a beautiful view of Waikiki and Honolulu and on the east side are the views of Koko head. It's good to come here around 6am or you will find yourself surrounded by tourist. A popular tourist destination.
We did it in less than an hour so we felt like we need to do something else after this short hike so we decide to Hike Koko Crater.
2.5 miles round trip
Location: Pacific Palisades Pearl City
There are two trails here, the long 12 miles round trip is going to the Koolau Summits and the 2.5 round trip is going to Waimano waterfall. We did the waterfall trail and will be back for the summit on our future hike. This trail is goo during rainy season for you to enjoy the waterfalls full on. If you come during summer time there might be a trickling waterfalls.
We started early with a good payoff because we have the waterfall for ourselves the entire time we were there. When we're heading up around almost noon time we encounter groups of people coming down.

Route: Exit at Halawa exit and follow the Aiea Height Dr all the way to Keaiwa Heiau State Park. Above the second parking lot you will find the trail head.
Note: There are 3 trails here.
1. Aiea Loop trail 4.8 miles
2.Bisecting Trail 3 miles
3. Ridge Trail 12 miles
Just follow the visible trail and do not turn left on the first look out, it will lead to the Ridge trail. It's muddy and slippery on wet season. We went on a windy and rainy day, mud is tolerable. Took us almost 3 hours with all the pit stops (enjoying the scenery) and breaks. It's like a stroll in the woods. Good fun.

This is an awesome hike with great views of the windward side and east side of the island. Sitting on 2000ft elevation. The last quarter of the hike is the killer because of the stiff stairs that looks like never ending. A nice view awaits for atop the ridge.
Route from town: Head to Kalanianaole Hwy pass Niu Valley and turn left on Kuliouou Rd to the Trail Head. There is two trails here, one goes to "Kuliouou Valley" and "kuliouou Ridge".
It's been almost a year since I did not post anything on this blog. I was busy on my real life and concentrating on my other blog. It's hard to juggle life sometimes.
Recently I re-discover my love of HIKING, good thing I found friends who love to do it for fun and challenge. I am also trying to convince my husband to hike with me since he no longer go to the gym, so this will be our "adventure exercise".
I will be posting more about Hiking and trails in Oahu on this blog. I am trying to convert this blog into a Hiking adventure and a guide to hiking Hawaii mostly in the island of Oahu. In the future you will be able to find directions and trails to help you to your next adventure.
I want a tattoos on my feet. I will hike some more and decide early next year. I know where I want it and I have the designs. It will the size of a quarter on both feet near my pinky toe. I don't want it too big, I just want to have it which means that I love hiking.
One tattoo means I love Hiking and the other one means I rediscover my love of hiking in Hawaii. I want it on my feet because hiking means "on foot". I want to add the words "Hele Wawae" means Hiking or on foot.

Finally I got a shot of her while they are shooting. They always shoot during weekdays and work hours. It's my off today and when I'm on my way to do some errands I spotted her out the ocean, I change route right away and head to the nearest location. These is the closest I can get but I'm happy for now looking at the "Black Pearl."

Poor baby! It's our little munchkins sleeping on his stomach. A classic move to put a bottle of beer beside him and make him look like he passed out. He was still so little on this photo, he was always sleeping. Unlike now that he is growing and thinks he's a big boy, he does not want to take a nap anymore. He always wanted our attention and talk to him or he will get bored.

Hawaii is one of the expensive state to live and if you complain people will tell you "Paradise comes with a price tag." The cost of living is high, food and housing is expensive. But if the price tag comes with sun, sand, surf, green mountains and much more, well that's worth the price we pay for living here.
Those people who have not been here before might say, even how beautiful Hawaii is it's not enough to convince them to live here. But then, we seen so many mainland people settling here because when you come once you never wanted to leave.

What on Earth! yeah looks like I have nothing to in town and just capturing images here and there of buildings. This twin tower is one of the famous landmark in town and if your from this island you will surely identify and know which side and which street I am located while taking this one.
Blondie's? Yikes what happen to my chocolate chip cookies looks like Blondie's. I was scared to burnt it a little more but this is so so good ones. But it's really good if you burnt it a little more that will make it crunchy goodness. I might post the recipe next time but this one is really simple and egg less.
My twin shared her recipe of Portuguese Tart to me. It's so easy to make and so good. We like it this way, a little burnt on the sides. The condensed milk give it the yummy flavor.
1 cup sugar
3 1/2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup flour
1 can 14oz condensed milk
2 cups milk
Beat the eggs in a large bowl.
Basically, you just mix all the ingredients together. This is such a simple recipe. If the mixture is lumpy, strain it to get a smooth batter. ( i strained mine )
Ladle the mixture into greased muffin tins. This recipe yields 18 tarts.
Bake in a 400F preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 325F and bake for another 20 minutes.

Taking advantage of the beautiful weather that makes my subject outstanding. Every time I saw nice thing to capture, I don't hesitate to full out my camera and snap. My favorite subject to capture are nature, sky, buildings and mostly views. They are easy to capture and fun to watch.
Influence by "Elgin Park". So here is my old beetle stuck in the wilderness in the middle of nowhere. Now I'm digging for cars and stuff to make my own little town. Yes, I don't have much time but I will make one little town and I will name it... Yeah I can't think of a name yet.
